How to backup site on Godaddy (WordPress, Joomla, Drupal or any Database driven site)

Steps How to backup your site on GoDaddy.

How to backup Database on GoDaddy

  1. Login to “GoDaddy”
  2. Go to “My Account”
  3. Then click “Hosting” at the left hand column
  4. Look for site you want to backup (if you have other sites hosting on GoDaddy)
  5. Click “Launch” (green button, clicking this button will open a new tab)
  6. Look for “Databases” tab (green tab at the top)
  7. Mouse over and click “MySQL”
  8. Look for yoursite.sql database and click the pencil icon far right (it says edit, when you click this it will lead you to MySQL Database Information)
  9. Then, Click Backup (the first icon at the top).

Then proceed to files backup.

How to backup Files on GoDaddy

  1. First download and install FTP software in your computer http://www.filezilla-project.org/download.php
  2. Then access site using your FTP access (if you don’t know as well please follow instruction below)
    • Follow steps 1-5 “How to backup Database on GoDaddy” but this time we’re going to get your FTP details.
    • Your FTP logins is shown on that page, password you can change it if you forgot or you don’t know. But commonly it’s similar your account password. You can add FTP user as well, just follow the given instruction. (once all okey, proceed to next step 3)
  3. Select folders and download (this might take a little bit longer since we have lots of files in the server)
